More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, adding that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.

In a new development, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
